Working with a coaching client recently and they were beating themselves up over not getting some things done to move their business forward.
Sure they knew it was an important step but they were just plain tired. They lacked focus and while the important step they needed to take was not so large that they could not get 'er done...they simply lacked the energy and focus to do it.
I've been there too, lots to do, not enough time, depleted energy but here's what I've found.
For each of us there is a place we need to go to when that happens. No, not the dungeon of doom, but rather a place that energizes and inspires us.
For me it is my backyard. No matter the season, being outdoors in fresh air, enjoying the garden is an inspiring and energizing place. When I come away from there, I feel focus. My cup is full and I am ready to take on the next project.
For some people it is music, they just need to focus on some great music and that helps to energize and inspire them.
For others it is reading, some The Bible for some its joke books.
Some are inspired by flight and take to an airport just to see the beauty of planes taking off and landing.
Even more are energized by the ocean, smelling the salt air, listening to the waves crashing on the shore, that inspires and energizes them.
What is it for you?
This might be a perfect day to figure it out and get there fast.
Then as Seth Godin would say, you may be able to 'ship'.
Bottom line: Get Out Of The Dungeon!

Thanks Deb. I needed this. Great advice. Gotta get back to "shipping".

Hi Deb,
When I feel extremely depleted, I need to sleep... *lot*. Without the interruption of an alarm clock, or having to go anywhere or do anything. I also need a lot of time alone away from other people during such times. Sometimes in order to do more, you must do less.

Don - Glad it hit just at the right time.
Ship fast and well my friend!
All the best!

Hi Rebecca
You are so right, for each of us it's different how we gain energy and inspiration. It really goes back to how each of us are uniquely wired. It is awesome that you already know what works for you and that you use it.
Totally agree 'sometimes in order to do more, you must do less.'
You are one smart gal!
All the best,
Deb

Ya know, for a geek like me that title gives me the opposite impression than I'm sure you intended.
I start imagining dark, forgotten castles that just beg to be explored.
