2010 brought some amazing highs and lows.
My husband and I celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary. That's a high.
Our daughter made the deans list. That's a high.
My first book was published, The Discovery Adventure Club and 100% of the net proceeds go to Prodigal House. That's a high.
I was mentioned in John C. Maxwell's book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. (affiliate link) That's a high.
We watched my sister in law fade from this world due to cancer. That's a low.
Just days before she passed she shared with me about her regrets, those things she wished she had done, tried and participated in and that was both a low and a high.
I was saddened to learn of things she wished she had done, some very special, some not, but each special to her. What saddened me even more is that in all the years we knew each other we never had this discussion before, because you know what...she had everything she needed to have accomplished each of them. Her strength, her resolve, her compassion is exactly what was needed. But she was a private person and never shared any of her dreams with us until that night at hospice.
Now weeks after she's passed, I find myself grieving for my sister and friend but I also find inspiration in our conversation. That's a high.
I'm great at helping people discover how they're wired and finding ways they can use those strengths. So now, I'm inspired to press on further to seed this world with the most average individuals who are in fact doing exceptional work simply because they lean into their strengths.
That inspires me. That's a high.
What inspires you?
Deb

Deb,
loved your post! What inspires me is empowered women, people making a difference, cooking a fab meal, red wine, sassy shoes, and sharing my life with those I love.

Before I joined FAA I actually asked myself the question, "What if He took me home today?" I was distraught with NO NO I haven't even lived yet, how can I die? So, I compared the choice to change my life with living or dying. To stay where I was at would be the death of me-literally so, I was gonna fight like hell to change because my life depended on it.
By the way I'm still fightin and not going to give up!

I am inspired by the people of Liberia who have been through so much pain & suffering yet have a relatively positive outlook on life. I am inspired by people who are creatively making a difference in the lives of those around them.
